A brilliant radiance...

Book rebels, artists rethinking healthcare, and some advice for your first draft

Eight great things worth sharing this week:

  1. Did you hear? P!nk joined forces with PEN America to engage in some literary rebellion by handing out 2,000 banned books in Florida, including Toni Morrison's Pulitzer Prize winning gem, Beloved.
  2. Nerd Word of the Week: Effulgence ~ a brilliant radiance or splendor. As in: The effulgence of her kindness made her a beacon of warmth.
  3. “You are your best thing” — Toni Morrison, Beloved
  4. Hooray! I'm offering a 15% discount on all coaching packages through the end of November. Discover which coaching package best suits you (or maybe a hard-to-shop-for loved one?). With the holidays approaching, this could be the second-best gift you could give, the first being some uninterrupted quiet time for writing.
  5. Forget androids and their electric sheep, I want to know if AI will be able to meditate. According to an article in Psychology Today, AI has yet to master the task. The AI models available to the public (think, ChatGPT) lack self-awareness and consciousness rendering them unable to engage in mindfulness (for now).
  6. Meet Emily Peters, media healthcare guru and mastermind of Artists Remaking Medicine, and check out this review showcasing the creative solutions artists have come up with to tackle healthcare industry challenges. I’m definitely adding this book to my TBR list!
  7. Are you struggling with your first draft? Forget about trying to be perfect and just write. Dive into this week’s blog post to learn how to give yourself permission to make mistakes and embrace writing the crappy first draft.
  8. What do you do with a drunken poet? This guy has some ideas.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

You are not the you that you think you are... Starting the year off right. Eight great things worth sharing this week: Have you watched the new Percy Jackson series on Disney+? Back in the day, I read Riordan's books with both my kiddos and they were so excited about this new TV adaptation. They're official review: way better than the 2010/13 movies.
